Local Tory campaigners in Bramhall North have tried to smear my actions in support of local residents opposed to the proposed phone mast on North Park Road, by saying that I had broken rules. This is completely false. However, you don't just have to take my word for it, Stockport Council's Solicitor has written a letter confirming it. An extract of the letter follows:
"I can confirm that Councillor Helen Foster-Grime has chosen to act as a community advocate in this matter by acting as an objector to the proposal and has helpfully informed me of this decision prior to the meeting.
She correctly identified that she would declare an interest, speak on the matter as a member of the public against the proposal and not take part in the decision making process.
There was no need for any 'ruling' from myself in this matter as the Councillor in question was fully aware of the rules and informed me of the correct action, without any need for input from myself."
Where the Tories make false claims, we will try to put the record straight. We will run a positive campaign for the local elections on May 5th. While others just criticise from the sidelines, I am getting on with the job.
