Helen at Stockport's CCTV control centre
The latest figures from the North West Crime Tracker show that between October 2009 and September 2010, there has been another reduction of 20% in all crimes across Stockport. Helen, who is the lead Councillor for the Safer Stockport Partnership, revealed the figures at Thursday nights Full Council Meeting in the Chamber, including a 23% fall in anti-social behaviour.
Helen says, "We are determined to make Stockport a safer place to live, work and visit. We are the safest borough in all ten Greater Manchester authorities, and many police officers who live here in Bramhall have told me that is why they choose to live in Stockport."
"Not only has crime fallen by 20% this year, our trailblazing approach to reoffending has delivered a 33.6% reduction in reoffending and saved the public £477,620 in civil justice and related costs." Helen added, "There is always more work to be done and we will never be complacent in Stockport. The reduction in all crimes equates to 4,675 fewer victims of crime this year and we will continue to work with the police, fire services, and our residents to make it even better."
